Data Center 125V Dual System

Delivering Reliable DC Power Under Tight Deadlines

125V DC System Upgrade for a Mission-Critical Data Centre

When a major data centre experienced failure of an existing DC power system, urgent action was required to restore protection, control and monitoring functions across a live facility. Extended offshore lead times posed unacceptable risk to operational continuity and compliance, prompting the need for a locally engineered solution.

Case Study Data Center 125V Dual System X&Y System

Project Overview

A major data centre operator required the urgent replacement of a failed DC power system supporting protection, control and monitoring functions within a live facility. The existing system had been sourced offshore, with extended lead times creating unacceptable risk to operational continuity and compliance requirements.

The operator engaged Century Yuasa Batteries to deliver a locally engineered DC power system to re-establish resilience and reliability within the critical power infrastructure. The requirement centred on a robust 125V DC power system engineered to support continuous operation in a mission-critical data centre environment.

The Intelepower Solution

An Australian-engineered Intelepower 125V DC power system was supplied to restore full redundancy and support long-term operational resilience within the data centre.

Key system features included:

  • 125V DC power system engineered for continuous operation
  • Hot-swappable rectifier and controller architecture supporting redundancy and maintenance without disruption
  • Yuasa FXH155 VRLA batteries selected for long design life and dependable performance
  • Custom mechanical and ventilation design to suit constrained plant room footprints
  • End-to-end delivery, from engineering through to commissioning

Following engagement, Century Yuasa Batteries issued engineered designs, quotations and a confirmed production schedule within days. The Intelepower DC power system was designed and manufactured locally and delivered to site within a six-week timeframe to support urgent reinstatement of DC infrastructure.

The system comprised independent X and Y 125V DC systems engineered for redundancy and fault tolerance. Installation, testing and commissioning were completed in accordance with Intelepower procedures and applicable Australian regulatory requirements, with full documentation provided to verify compliance, performance and operational readiness within a live data centre environment.

Performance Outcomes

The Intelepower DC power system was delivered and commissioned within the required timeframe, restoring redundancy and meeting all performance, safety and compliance requirements.

Project outcomes included:

  • Rapid delivery: Local engineering and manufacture enabled delivery within six weeks
  • Operational continuity: Dual DC architecture restored protection, control and monitoring capability
  • High reliability: Hot-swappable rectifiers and controllers support maintenance without disruption
  • Regulatory compliance: System aligned with Australian Standards and data centre requirements
  • Lifecycle confidence: Yuasa VRLA batteries support predictable long-term performance

The successful delivery reinforced confidence in Century Yuasa Batteries’ technical capability and supported ongoing engagement across critical power infrastructure within the facility.

Why This Matters for Critical Infrastructure

Data centres, utilities and industrial facilities depend on robust DC battery systems to maintain protection, control and monitoring systems during power disruption events. This project demonstrates how locally engineered DC power systems, proven VRLA battery technology and rapid manufacturing capability can restore resilience quickly in environments where downtime is not an option.
